Spring Fling

A great afternoon of Scottish Country Dancing was enjoyed in Milngavie Town Hall with about 150 dancers and friends.  We had folk aged from 14 to well over 80 dancing to the very capable David Oswald (accordionist). There were 14 non-competitive demonstrations from Branch classes and local dance clubs interspersed with general dancing for everyone.

One of the main highlights of the afternoon was Confi-dance (a partially sighted group) who performed An Enchanted Place.  Soul Dancers, Linda, Robert and Anne, showed us what can be done with three dancers when four or five dancers are missing with Good Hearted Glasgow. Their circles were perfect! Christine Reid's solo showed the grace of Ladies Step Dance and Alastair Brown's Men's Highland solo was a Highland Step Dance which was danced at Summer Smany years ago by the late Derek Haynes.

Alan Munro and the Committee are to be congratulated for reviving the Spring Fling.
A very big thank you, to all who took part and helped to make it such a memorable occasion.          Photographs - Jim Ferguson
