Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games  Saturday, June 8th 2024

We made a return visit to the Bearsden and Milngavie Highland Games on a mostly bright and sunny, although blustery day.  We had one demonstration slot where we performed Granville Market, Shiftin Bobbins, Summer Assembly and The Highland Rambler.  Fortunately, we were scheduled to go on stage immediately after the official opening ceremony so there was a good audience in the stand and they seemed to enjoy what they saw.  Our volunteer dancers did a great job of highlighting the joy of Scottish country dancing accompanied by the wonderfully uplifting music provided by John Carmichael.  We also had a stall which was visited by a good number of passers-by and some friends from the Branch.  Whether we attract new dancers or not to classes remains to be seen.  My thanks to dancers Douglas, Ina, Gale, Lilias, Hilary, Margaret, Ian, Lyndsey, Anne, Marion and Pauline and musician John for being there on the day, to Lyndsey for providing the music at the stall and Aileen for looking after the stall while we were dancing.  Special thanks to Muriel for the use of her gazebo and her encouragement and support without which the organisation required would have been a lot harder and to Pauline, Ian and my husband Alan for helping to take down the gazebo at the end.
