 Joie de vivre ...

We were delighted to make a return visit to ‘entertain’ the members of the Friendship Group in Giffnock on 15th July.  In recognition of the Glasgow 850 commemorations this year, the programme included Good Hearted Glasgow and Glasgow City Strathspey along with the Raven’s Dance, Irish Rover, Joie de Vivre and the Highland Rambler.  Particular highlights of the afternoon were Ken’s singing of Bonnie Wee Jeannie McColl and enthusiastic audience participation in a St Bernard’s Waltz.  We received a very warm welcome from those present who sang and clapped along to familiar tunes and the afternoon was rounded of with some very welcome refreshments accompanied by a lovely spread of sweet treats.
Taking the ‘Joie de Vivre’ of Scottish Country Dancing out into the community is always such an uplifting experience especially when the organisers of the groups visited tell us of the positive effect that we have had on those present.  This would not be possible without the support of volunteer dancers, on this occasion Douglas, Ina, Ken, Liz, Susan, Laura, Jane, Jim and Anne and our accordionist, Billy to all of whom I am extremely grateful.
