Moments Café

Moments Café – Monday 15th September 2025

It was with great pleasure that a team of Branch dancers returned to Moments Café for a third visit.  Moments is a dementia friendly group, which meets in Cathcart Trinity Church Hall twice a month.  We were very warmly welcomed and as soon as Billy, our accordionist started playing, the room came alive with the ‘audience’ clapping and singing along to familiar tunes which created a great atmosphere.  The programme was made up of well-known dances and included Irish Rover, Highland Rambler, Amazing Grace Strathspey, Good Hearted Glasgow, Raven’s Dance and Mairi’s Wedding.  
Midway through the programme there was time for audience participation with a particular request from the café volunteers for a Gay Gordons.  Sheena also delighted everyone with two recitations, one celebrating the joys of Scottish Country Dancing and the other of the lovely words of the song Amazing Grace as it followed on from the strathspey we had demonstrated.  The ‘official’ programme finished with Auld Lang Syne before everyone was treated to a very welcome cup of tea or coffee and a generous spread of home baking.  Sincere thanks to dancers Sheena, Jane, Liz, Ken, Marion, Wendy, Elspeth, Revathy and Anne and to our accordionist, Billy for bringing the fun and joy of Scottish Country Dancing to everyone present.
