Hawthorne House 'Burns'
Added on 08 February 2025
Hawthorn House – Wednesday 22nd January 2025
We were delighted to be asked back to Hawthorn House Care Home for a wee ‘Burns’ celebration.
As it was still fairly early in the year we started the dance programme with the New Year Jig, followed by Burns Night, A man’s a man for a’ that, My love she’s but a lassie yet, Cutty Sark and Alloway Kirk Rant. Midway during the programme some of the residents were persuaded to have a waltz to some lovely Burns tunes played by our musician and we were also treated to two poems recited by Sheena – My love is like a red, red rose and Up in the morning early. The afternoon was brought to an appropriate close with everyone joining in exceptionally excellent singing of Auld Lang Syne.
The programme seemed to go down well with the residents who supported us with clapping along and singing of familiar tunes. As usual, my sincere thanks to volunteer dancers, Marion, Jane, Ken, Liz, Susan, Sheena, Blair and Anne and our accordionist Billy for bringing the fun and enjoyment of Scottish Country Dancing out into the community.
