Burns Celebration at the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice

It was with great pleasure that a team of dancers made a return visit to one of the Wellness sessions at the Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice at the end of January.  As it was just a few days after Burns Anniversary the programme mainly consisted of dances with a connection to Robert Burns.  These were New Year Jig, Burns Night Jig, A Man’s a Man for A’ That, Highland Mary, Cutty Sark and Glasgow 850.  In addition to the dances, Anne read ‘25th January’ (one of Pat Batt’s poems) and Ken sang ‘Bonnie Wee Jeannie McColl’ with many of those present joining in.  As has become our custom, midway through the programme, Billy played some waltz music which encouraged some folk to get up for a dance.  All too soon we reached the end of our afternoon to enthusiastic applause.  At the end, the Wellness organiser told us how important it was for them to invite us along to provide something uplifting for the patients, their families or carers who attend as they are all living with challenging circumstances which was lovely to hear.  As always, grateful thanks to dancers Susan, Gale, Revathy, Douglas, Ina, Ken, Liz and Anne and our accordionist Billy for their continued support without whom these visits couldn’t take place.
