Friendship Club

It’s good to have friends!
We recently experienced a very warm welcome on Tuesday 12th November at the Friendship Club, which meets weekly in Giffnock. As this was a first visit, the programme contained some of our favourite dances namely, Happy Meeting, Good Hearted Glasgow, Shiftin’ Bobbins, Friendships, Postie’s Jig and Mairi’s Wedding. There was a little audience participation while Billy played some waltz tunes and Sheena was given a great ovation for her very animated version of the poem ‘A Dug, A Dug!’. There was enthusiastic clapping and singing of familiar songs by the residents present throughout the afternoon which was brought to a traditional close with everyone joining in the singing of Auld Lang Syne. At the end of our programme we were pleased to accept an invitation to stay for chat, tea and wonderful home baking and also to make a return visit sometime soon.
Sincere thanks to dancers Ken, Liz, Susan, Sheena, Gale, Jane, Blair and Anne and to our accordionist Billy (who had suggested this particular group for a visit) for volunteering to take part and allowing us to take the uplifting music and fun of Scottish Country Dancing out into the community.
