Glasgow Branch Spring Fling

Added on 02 May 2023

On 29th April this event was well supported and enjoyed by many dancers from Branch Classes and Linked clubs across the greater Glasgow area.
Matthew MacLennan provided great music. Peter Knapman and Muriel Bone were the ‘compères’. Everyone participated and enjoyed the general dancing.
All ages and abilities were represented in displays by Westerton Beginners, Hillpark General, Milngavie General, Bishopbriggs SCDC, Wellington SCDC, Branch VAC, Glenburn SCDC, New Kilpatrick SCDC, and St Ninian’s Primary School.
A variety of dances were imaginatively executed and each display was appreciated. It was a pleasure to  watch the senior pupils from St Ninian’s primary dancing Granville Market as they have only had a school club since August 2022, (thanks to Irene and Tom who teach them), and thanks to Susan for organising.
We were treated to The Lancers, a quadrille, which reflected an older form of dance.
There was also a humorous entry….Bratach Bana danced by 3 dancers and 5 ghosts!
Thank you to all groups and their teachers who made the afternoon so successful.
We look forward to another Spring Fling next year.
