Burns at St Francis Care Home

It was with pleasure that we made a repeat visit to St Francis on Thur 25th January for a Rabbie Burns themed afternoon. While the residents were taking their seats, our accordionist, Billy, played a selection of well-known Burns songs. Our programme started with the New Year Jig, followed by dances with a link to Burns poems, songs or life and included Burns Night (preceded by a shortened version of the Address to the Haggis from Billy), A man’s a man for a’ that, My love she’s but a lassie yet, Cutty Sark and Good Hearted Glasgow. Sheena also delighted everyone with her recitation of ‘To a mouse’ and ‘Up in the morning early’. To finish off, we had some waltz music with a Burns, encouraging some of the residents to dance. The visit was brought to a conclusion in true Scottish fashion with Auld Lang Syne. Thanks to Billy for playing for us, to Susan for hosting the walk-through which took place the previous morning and the dance volunteers for their willingness to attend the practice and take part on the day.
