Christmas Joy at St Francis
Added on 18 December 2023
We were pleased to return to St Francis Care Home in Govan on 6th Dec to help them kick-start their Christmas season. The dancers arrived full of the Christmas spirit with suitable headgear – Santa even made an appearance! Billy, our accordionist, started the afternoon with some festive tunes. The dances we performed included Happy Meeting, the Snowman, Cranberry Tart, Friendships, Postie’s Jig and a Christmas Ceilidh. These were interspersed with Sheena’s recitation of ‘the Snawman’ and ‘In the bleak mid-winter’. The community singing included the first verse of Hark the Herald Angels Sing, Silent Night and O Come all Ye Faithful (for which Billy had kindly written out the words). By the end of the afternoon everyone was full of Christmas cheer and we rounded off with a few popular Christmas songs such as Have yourself a merry little Christmas, Santa Claus is coming to town and Jingle Bells. Once again, sincere thanks to our volunteers for giving up their time for a morning walk-through of the dances and performing in the afternoon. Thanks also to Billy Gray for playing for us and making the afternoon so special.
